Mercedes-Benz

Members and invited guests of the Ozark section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America will meet at a member’s home in Bentonville for a Kentucky Derby party at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday. The event will feature race-related games and mock betting, plus a ladies’ best hat contest. On the menu for the potluck dinner will be traditional Derby dishes and chocolate bourbon pecan pie.

The section usually meets the second Saturday of each month. Times and locations vary, depending on the nature of the event.

Event categories are driving, entertainment, social, educational, charitable, technical, exhibit and awards. Each involves dining at a member’s home or restaurant. Owning a Mercedes is not required.

Hill N Dale Hikers

Hill N Dale Hikers will be hiking Thursday at Natural Falls in Oklahoma. They will meet at Harps in Bella Vista, upper parking lot, at 8 a.m. and have lunch in Siloam Springs.

Ladies Day Out

Bella Vista Ladies Day Out will meet at 10 a.m.

May 21 in the parking lot of Bible Evangelical Free Church and carpool to lunch at Local Flavor Cafe in Eureka Springs. They will go to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge for a 1 p.m.

Woodcarvers

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club meets from 1 to 3 p.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista.

The group has 38 members and has a display case at Riordan Hall for the public to view carving by members.

Members bring in a current carving for show and tell at the meetings.

The club will have a tent at the Spring Spanker Creek Arts and Crafts Fair May 3-5, and members will be there carving and displaying various carvings and a totem pole the club is working on.

Archeology

Melissa Baier, park archeologist at Buffalo National River, will present “The Archeology of the Buffalo National River” at the 7 p.m. May 14 meeting of the Kokoci Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society. The meeting will be held at the Arkansas Archeological Survey Office at 2475 N. Hatch Ave. in Fayetteville. The public is invited to attend and there is no charge.

Lions

The Bella Vista Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m.

May 7 for a dinner buffet at Concordia Retirement Center’s main building, 1 Concordia Drive. Guest speaker and Rotarian Ed Wheeler will share the mission and function of Rotary clubs.

Legion Auxiliary

The Bella Vista American Legion Auxiliary Post 341 will meet at 7 p.m. May 14 at the home of President Shirley Foster, 4 Kirkbridge Lane. Members are encouraged to bring pictures of their parents and grandparents for discussion of “Family Heritage.”

Andante

The Andante Club will meet at 1 p.m. May 7 at Highlands Christian Church, at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. The program will feature the winners of the recital held April 7 at the Presbyterian Church. Also included on the program will be a preview of the coming opera season given by Marlene Gillette.

The first week of May is National Music Week.

As part of the festivities, aprogram will be given at Village House with a singalong and special numbers presented by club members. Everyone is invited to these programs. The Andante Club is affiliated with the Arkansas and National Federation of Music Clubs.

Photography

A continuing web seminar on basic and intermediate photography, courtesy of Ken Johnson, will bepresented at Highlands Crossing at 6 p.m. Monday.

Future programs will be announced.

Rotating club photos are being shown at Mercy Health on Arkansas 102, IberiaBank in Bentonville, Delta Bank, 1st Western Bank and Acoustic Mud coffee shop, all in Bella Vista.

The May 18 meeting will include a silent auction of used cameras and equipment. Harold Hull will present the program on nature and wildlife.

The May digital contest will be “A Skewed View.” Email photos to Karin Fowler at karinsue23@hotmail.

Anyone interested in photography is invited to attend the next club meeting at 1 p.m. May 18 at Riordin Hall.
