Bella Vista Council To Meet

BELLA VISTA — The Bella Vista Library is one step closer to becoming part of the city.

The City Council will discuss plans to take the library under the city’s umbrella. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Highlands Crossing Center.

Aldermen also will discuss the Bella Vista Historical Museum as a result of the same committee study that included recommendations to take over the library. The committee recommended the city contract with the museum to offer $5,000 this year to help with operating expenses.

Renewal of the contract with Cooper Communities to house the Street Department another year also is on the agenda. The department is in a building on Pinion Valley Drive behind TH Rogers Lumber. It has been housed there since it began operation under the city a year ago.

Finding land for a permanent home for the Street Department has been mentioned by Mayor Frank Anderson recently, along with land for a fourth fire station. The fire station is not an item on the agenda despite a presentation by Fire Chief Steve Sims to aldermen at a work session April 17. Aldermen also will discuss buying police vehicles and marketing the city in conjunction with the Property Owners Association.
