Police Officers, Employees Honored

SPRINGDALE — The Police Department honored officers and employees Friday who contributed to the community and department.

The recognition came at the annual Springdale Police Department awards banquet. The nominations for most of the awards came from within the department, said Lt. Scott Lewi. The winners were elected by voting of their peers.

The winners of the City Attorney’s Award was picked by Ernest Cate, city attorney, and the Washington County Prosecutor’s Award were picked by John Threet, county prosecutor.

The winners were:

• Meritorious Award: Bryan Johncock and Thomas Gregory

• Distinguished Service Award: Matt Ray, Robert Hendrix, Betty McKee, Michelle Reader and Taylor Johnson

• City Attorney Award: John Parnell

• Washington County Prosecutor’s Honors Award: Matt Ray

• Coveted Shield of Excellence Chief’s Community Service Award: Whittle Trucking

• Field Training Officer Excellence Award: Chris Shirrel

• Laney Morris Supervisory Excellence Award: Lee Andreadis

• James Melekian Dispatcher of the Year Award: Stacy Elliott

• Helen Bowman Civilian Employee of the Year Award: Steve Davis

• Craig Chastain Officer of the Year Award: Tommy Wooten
