PREP SOFTBALL VAN BUREN 3 SPRINGDALE HIGH 0

Springdale was unable to rally after giving up a pair of runs in the second inning and suffered a close loss to Van Buren.

Chelsea Baldwin recorded six strikeouts and allowed nine hits as the Lady Bulldogs (3-17, 0-10) missed out on earning their fi rst 7A/6A-West win of the season.

Springdale threatened to score in the fifth and sixth innings, but Van Buren got out of the jams and hung on after adding a run in the fi fth to take a 3-0 lead.

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 15 SILOAM SPRINGS 1

Tiffany Ray smacked a three-run homer, and Emily Stockalper drove in three runs and earned the win in the circle as Har-Ber (10-8, 7-4) rolled to a mercy-rule win.

Haley Hunt homerd for Siloam Springs (6-12, 2-9) and Morgan Curtis was 3-for-3.

4A-1 DISTRICT TOURNAMENT AT OZARK LINCOLN 6, GENTRY 3

Kayleen Rush scattered fi ve hits over seven innings to lead Lincoln over Gentry in opening round action of the 4A-1 District Tournament at Ozark.

Rush (6-11) walked two, and struck out six.

Hayle Sugg went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ashtyn Rothcock doubled and scored for Lincoln (6-11).

The Lady Wolves continue tournament play against Pea Ridge at 6 p.m. today.

West Fork 16-18, Cedarville 0-1

Tiffany Cartwight tossed a pair of one-hitters as West Fork swept a 3A-1 Conference doubleheader against Cedarville.

In the opener, Spencer Sagely and Cartwright drove in two runs each for the Lady Tigers.

In the late game, Catie Coker drove in six runs, and Cartwright again allowed one hit and tripled with 2 RBIs. Sagely had 3 RBIs.

PREP BASEBALL FAYETTEVILLE 7-22 SILOAM SPRINGS 0-0

Senior Night at Bulldog Field produced two easy wins for Fayetteville, as well as an outright 7A/6A-West Conference championship in the process.

The Purple’Dogs got a combined one-hit shutout from Will Ginger and Brett Price in against Siloam Springs (2-20, 0-12 7A/6A-West) in the first game of a conference doubleheader. Carson Shaddy led the Bulldogs at the plate with a home run, a triple and a double.

In the nightcap, Fayetteville (20-2, 12-0) cruised in a fi ve-inning mercyrule. Forrest Fultz threw a two-hitter on the mound for the win. Austin Allen had three hits and both Will Price and Kyle Pate had three-run home runs to to offensiveexplosion for the Bulldogs.

Fayetteville clinched the outright conference title Thursday with Bentonville’s loss to Van Buren in conference play.

VAN BUREN 3-2, BENTONVILLE 1-4

Van Buren did all of its scoring in the fifth inning and held off Bentonville to win the fi rst game of a 7A/6A-West Conference doubleheader Thursday at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

The Tigers scored their only run in the bottom of the fifth when Kane Koenigseder singled and later came home on a wild pitch. Bentonville was held to only four hits in the opener.

Cody Scroggins pitched fi ve innings and took the loss, allowing all three runs on eight hits.

Bentonville (17-7, 9-3) bounced back in the nightcap as the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fi rst two innings. Scroggins and Chad Musteen each drove in a run in the first with a double and a groundout, respectively, while Austin Haggard’s sacrifi ce fly in the second scored Jimmy Short, who led off the inning with a single.

Preston Rosales pitched a complete game and picked up the win, allowing only one earned run on nine hits while recording eight strikeouts.
