The DIY television network is proving a comfortable home for musicians turned renovators. Recording artist Vanilla Ice,whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, will star in Vanilla Ice Goes Amish, which will debut on the network this year. Network executive Burton Jablin said the former rap star will live in a community of Amish people in Ohio to learn how they do construction. Vanilla Ice already has a renovation series on the network, The Vanilla Ice Project, which will return for its fourth season this fall. Reverend Run of the hip-hop group Run DMC also will have a series on the network next year starring with his wife and three children as they renovate their home. And keeping with the music theme, DIY will feature Daryl Hall of the musical duo Hall & Oates next year as he renovates a farmhouse in Connecticut.

Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon said there’s no rivalry between them like the longtime feud between late night hosts Jay Leno and David Letterman. Both were among the honorees Tuesday in New York at a gala recognizing Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. “I feel good about it. We’re very friendly. I know people expect us to dislike each other and say bad things about each other but that will never happen,” said the 45-year-old Kimmel. The pair will face off in the ratings next year when Fallon leaves NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and replaces Leno as host of The Tonight Show. Fallon, 38, said, as of now, things won’t change much when he switches to The Tonight Show. “We do a great show now. I think we’re ready. I thank Jay Leno for being awesome and still being No. 1, because without him I wouldn’t have a job,” he laughed. “It’s just like they call you up from the minor league, so I’m ready to go for the majors, and I’m gonna swing for the fences.” In January, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live moved to the 10:35 p.m. Central time slot, putting it in direct competition with The Tonight Show and Late Show with David Letterman.
