Four black bass on Sunday was enough for the University of Louisiana-Monroe fishing team to win the FLW Outdoors college fishing championship held Friday through Sunday at Beaver Lake.

Clark and Preuett managed four bass on Saturday, not the tournament limit of fi ve.

“I really thought I’d lost it for us,” Preuett said. “I lost two good ones shallow today and felt horrible about it the whole time. I thought we were going to lose by a couple of ounces.”

The team changed theirtactics each day. They used Alabama rigs, crank baits, jigs, jerk baits and shakyhead rigs.

They first used the shakyhead rig on Sunday to catch their four bass from the backs of creek arms.
