HOT SPOTS

ARKANSAS RIVER (MAUMELLE POOL) Bream fishing is excellent using worms and crickets fished around standing timber in the Little Maumelle and Maumelle rivers. Crappie fishing is excellent using jigs and minnows in the Little Maumelle and Maumelle rivers. Bass fishing is excellent using Flukes and spinnerbaits in the shallows of Little Maumelle. Catfishing is excellent near the mouth of the Maumelle River.

BEAVER LAKE Striper activity is picking up and the white bass run is on. Stripers are being caught using live shad. Bream are hitting crickets around shallow cover. Crappie fishing is excellent using minnows and jigs. White bass are being caught on shad-imitating lures. Walleye fishing is fair. Largemouth and spotted bass are being caught on jerk baits, soft plastics and Alabama rigs fished 8-15 feet deep.

LAKE DARDANELLE Bass are still biting well. The frog bite is on in the lily pads and moss. Jigs, swim baits, spinnerbaits and crankbaits will catch the river bass. Stripers and white bass are in the backs of the creeks and at the dams. Try a white hair jig, grub, a jerk bait or top-water lure. Crappie are being taken 5-10 feet deep using minnows, green phantom tail jigs and green/black jigs. Catfish are being taken on cut shad on noodles and rods. Bream are being caught on crickets and worms.

LAKE NORFORK Fishing is getting good for all species. The creeks are stained and the stripers, bass and crappie are spawning or are in prespawn and are biting. Crappie fishing has been good near the banks and around shallow brush piles. Bass fishing has picked up with about any method working. They are moving very shallow in the mornings and evenings to feed, and there has been a little top-water activity. White bass are starting to show up in the backs of creeks and coves.

LAKE MAUMELLE Bream fishing is fair using worms and crickets fished around main lake points. Crappie fishing is excellent using jigs and minnows fished around shoreline brush and vegetation. Bass are biting well on spinnerbaits, jigs and top-water lures. Catfishing is excellent using chicken liver, shad, and green sunfish.
