Two Lady War Eagles Extend Softball Careers

ROGERS - Neither Hope Resor, nor Michelle Edmiston were exactly sure where they wanted to attend college earlier this year. But they were both sure of one thing. They wanted to keep playing softball.

Both made that dream a reality as they signed national letters of intent to play college softball at a ceremony Monday at Rogers Heritage.

Resor signed to play at Hendrix College, while Edmiston signed to play at the University of the Ozarks.

They had both talked with a couple of other schools. Resor was also considering University of the Ozarks, so the two could have continued to be teammates. But ultimately they agreed their final choices were just the right fit.

Resor has been a three year starter for the Lady War Eagles, mainly playing first base and pitching some. She is also strong in the classroom with a 27 on the ACT and a 3.5 grade-point average.

Edmiston has started some this season at third and designated player this season. She enjoyed a strong state tournament as a junior and helped the Lady War Eagles advance to the quarterfinals.

Heritage softball coach Tiff any Taylor, who is in her first year at Heritage, said both have been keys to a team, which is fighting for a state tournament berth this season.

“Those two have been huge for me,” Taylor said. “They’ve been with me since August and really bought into what I’m trying to do. They stepped in as senior leaders and said ‘that’s how we’re supposed to do things.’ That’s invaluable.

“Hope has been really solid at first and pitched a little bit. Michelle has started some. Both of them have been great. Whatever I’ve asked of them. They’ve done it.”
