SUN BELT MISSISSIPPI 11, ARKANSAS STATE 1

Mississippi scored five runs in the first inning and totaled 11 hits in handing Arkansas State a loss at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro on Tuesday night.

Eleven Ole Miss batters came to the plate in the first inning against ASU starter David Owen (1-1), who gave up 5 runs on 4 hits over 2 innings in taking his first loss of the season.

Stuart Turner hit a sacrifice fly, Andrew Mistone hit an RBI single, Christian Helsel drew a bases-loaded walk and Will Jamison hit a two-run double that gave the No. 18 Rebels (30-12) a 5-0 lead.

Ole Miss added two more runs in the first, one in the seventh and three in the eighth when Auston Bousfied hit a tworun triple and Austin Anderson added an RBI double.

ASU’s only run came in the fourth when Ryan Emery hit a one-out double and Claude Johnson followed with a double. The Red Wolves (22-19) were held to one hit the rest of the game.

SOUTHLAND CENTRAL ARKANSAS 16, TENNESSEE.-MARTIN 8

Central Arkansas scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to overcome a deficit in an eventual victory Tuesday at Bear Stadium in Conway.

The Bears (29-10) sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs on 5 hits in the seventh. Tennessee-Martin had taken a 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh on the fourth of its five home runs in the game before the Bears broke out.

UCA’s Jonathan Davis went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI, 2 runs scored and 3 stolenbases, and Michael Marietta drove in three runs with a double in the seventh inning.

Justin Treece went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, while Ethan Harris and Blake Marchal each had two hits.

Six of UCA’s 10 runs in the seventh came with two outs. After Marchal drew a bases-loaded walk and Marietta hit his three-run double, Harris doubled in Marietta. Treece then hit an RBI single and Garrett Brown scored on a throwing error.

Davis then hit a three-run double to cap the scoring and the inning ended when he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.

Blake Clayton (2-0) earned the victory after giving up 1 run on 2 hits in twothirds of an inning for the Bears.

Glant Glasser went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI for the Skyhawks (10-30).

SWAC UAPB 13, ALCORN STATE 1

Stanten Jones set the stage with a solid outing on the mound and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (15-25, 9-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference) totaled 12 hits as it whipped Alcorn State (11-32, 11-6) on Tuesday at the Torii Hunter Complex in Pine Bluff.

Jones (2-5) allowed 3 hits and 1 run, none earned, with no walks and 5 strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. Humberto Zavala, Grant Glass and Mikey Ramirez combined to allow no runs and one hit in 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Patrick Phillips went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the Golden Lions hitters. Mike Ludwig entered the game in the seventh inning as a pinch-hitter and went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 RBI. Kirby Campbell went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
