I commend Giff Jordan for his letter regarding Art Hobson’s column (April 17). Obviously Mr.
Jordan sees Mr. Hobson’s abilities allow him to propagandize, rather than teach, as an educator would.
The gods of atheism, Mr. Hobson’s religion of choice, are ego and pride, which allow him to preach only to the choir of the self-righteous who practice personal and educational prejudice and intolerance.
Anyone in disagreement is considered “the enemy,” thus the need for debasement of others.
However, we must remember that Mr. Hobson has never left school so he sees through a different lens than the great unwashed masses of society, commoners who can tell the truth from fiction. Most of us disliked Stalin while he was alive, while Mr. Hobson views him as a philosophical mentor.
A few columns ago Mr. Hobson extolled his atheism in print. He was asked by a reporter what his goal in life was. He replied (get this!) “to make people happy.” He meant his “people.” Hypocrisy 101.

The commentary by Sherman Frederick (April 20) takes liberties in his opinion and reporting.
Dr. (Kermit) Gosnell is an exception in the community of abortion doctors. He is not on trial for abortion. He is on trial for breaking the law. He is an American physician who practiced as an abortion provider in Philadelphia and as of April 2013 is on trial for first- and third-degree murder, illegal prescribing of drugs, conspiracy related to corruption, and related medical malpractice offenses, in his abortion practice.
Roe vs. Wade is not the cause for his malpractice actions.
There are abortion clinics that follow the law with the patient’s choices.
There should always be a time limit on abortions and the reasons should be taken into serious consideration. Most clinics do this with care and concern. And when the law is broken, due process should prevail.
This does not bring cause to take away a woman’s rights.
