Gentry School Placed On Brief Lockdown

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

GENTRY — Gentry High School was locked down Tuesday afternoon after police were notified a student may have had a gun on campus.

Gentry police came to the high school, and school officials locked down the location, according to a news release. Two boys, ages 14 and 15, were detained. A brief search turned up no weapons, and the lockdown was lifted.

Police and school officials believe the incident was a case of a “prank gone wrong” scenario. Parents were notified of the situation through the school district’s mass emergency notification system. The two boys who were detained later were released into their parents’ custody and could face charges, the release stated.
