Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

DuPont Co., the largest U.S. chemical company by market value, a profit of $3.35 billion or $3.58 a share, up from $1.49 billion, or $1.58 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 2 percent to $10.4 billion. Shares rose $2.08 to close at $52.49.

Brinker International, the restaurant group, a profit of $52 million, or 71 cents a share, up from $44.9 million, or 56 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $742.8 million. Shares fell $1.11 to close at $37.72.

Reynolds American Inc., the nation’s second-biggest tobacco company, a profit of $508 million, or 92 cents a share, up from $270 million, or 47 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue excluding excise taxes fell nearly 3 percent to $1.88 billion. Shares fell 39 cents to close at $45.43.

Xerox Corp., the printer and copier maker, a profit of $296 million, or 23 cents a share, up from $269 million, or 19 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell 2.7 percent to $5.36 billion. Shares fell 16 cents to close at $8.44.
