College To Host Community Poverty Simulation

BENTONVILLE — NorthWest Arkansas Community College will host a poverty simulation on campus today.

The event will allow participants to begin to understand what it's like to struggle to meet basic needs without enough money, according to a news release.

The half-day program will bring together social service providers, elected officials, clergy, educators, employers, students and others to experience firsthand a typical month of living in poverty.

It will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Walmart Auditorium at the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies. Participants in the simulation are asked to bring a canned good that will be donated to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
