BENTONVILLE — A Rogers woman was sentenced to six years in prison in connection with stabbing a man last year.

Cynthia Shoelah pleaded guilty Monday to criminal attempted battery in the first degree, a Class C felony; and terroristic threatening in the first degree, a Class D felony. Her plea came under an agreement Janette McKinney, chief deputy public defender, reached with Stephanie McLemore, deputy prosecutor.

Shoelah was arrested Sept. 21.

Rogers police were called Sept. 21 to Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville for a reported stabbing at 2605 W. Olive St. No. 18, according to a police report.

Bobby Ray Smith, 56, told police he went to bed after an argument with Shoelah, his girlfriend. Shoelah came into the bedroom and scratched and hit him. She also hit him with a metal broom, according to court documents.

Smith told Shoelah he was going to call police, but tried to go back to sleep instead. Shoelah then threw a glass of ice water on him. Smith claims Shoelah came back into the bedroom with a steak knife, threatened to kill him and then stabbed him in his left shoulder, according to court documents.

Smith was treated at a hospital and released, according to court documents.

Robin Green, Benton County circuit judge, accepted the plea agreement and Shoelah’s guilty plea.

Shoelah was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. She must also abide by a six-year suspended sentence after her release from prison.

Shoelah was given credit for the 213 days spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial. She also must pay $1,870 in court costs.
