Smokin’ in the Ozarks opens Friday in Rogers

The fifth-annual Smokin’ in the Ozarks Barbecue Contest will be Friday and Saturday at Pig Trail Harley Davidson in Rogers. The Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event benefits Camp Corral, a camp for the children of disabled or deceased military veterans, and Horses for Healing, a therapeutic riding program for special-needs children.

Hours are 9 a.m.-10:30 p.m. each day. The People’s Choice Award will be judged from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.

Moe Cason from the TV show Pitmasters will sign autographs from 2-3:30 p.m.Saturday, and music will start at 7:30 p.m. each night. The George Brothers with Dorrian Cross will perform Friday, and Judge Parker with guests Jesse Dean and Left of Center are scheduled for Saturday.
