OGE Energy Corp. is accepting applications for its teacher grant program through June 7. Teachers at public schools in OGE service areas are eligible to apply for grants up to $1,000 to fund creative projects focusing on math, science and reading.

This marks the 11th year of the grant program, which is open to prekindergarten through 12th grade teachers in Arkansas and Oklahoma communities served by OGE subsidiaries OG&E and Enogex. Applications, guidelines and a list of eligible school districts are available at oge.com.

The Beaver Watershed Alliance is hosting a photo contest for amateur and semiprofessional photographers through May 15. Photographers can submit photos in two age categories - youth, ages 9 to 17, and adult, ages 18 and older.

First-prize winners will receive a camera and a gift-card package from Bedford Camera & Video valued at $400.

Second-prize winners receive a four-hour private photo instruction session with Stephen Ironside of Ironside Photography, while third-place winners win an Arkansas & Missouri Railroad excursion for two to Van Buren.

Photographs must be submitted as 8-by-10-inch or 8-by-12-inch prints to one of Bedford Camera & Video’s Northwest Arkansas locations by 5 p.m. May 15. Digital photos must also be submitted to Courtney Thomas at courtney@ beaverwatershedalliance.org by midnight May 15.

Photo submissions must include captions, the name of the photographer, the photo’s subject, the date it was taken and the location where it was taken. More information is available online at beaverwatershedalliance.org.
