GULPHA GORGE TRAIL Location: Trailhead is inGulpha Gorge Campground at 305 Gorge Road in Hot Springs National Park.

Length: It’s a steep 0.8 mile to the top of Hot Springs Mountain, but an easy downhill coming back - for 1.6 miles total.

Or continue on other trails to downtown Hot Springs.

Main attractions: The most rewarding short hike in a park with 26 miles of trails, Gulpha Creek is a swell place to cool your heels on a hot day.

Hazards: Watch for roots and rocks on the uneven portions of the dirt path.

Also, there are a couple of drop-offs overlooking the creek.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? No bikes, but kids and dogs will love it. You might have to carry small fry on the way up.
