The University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service has moved a Tuesday lecture by 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee to the Wally Allen Ballroom at the Statehouse Convention Center.
Gbowee, a Liberian peace activist, will speak at 6 p.m. as part of the Frank and Kula Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series.
Gbowee’s leadership of the Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace - which brought together Christian and Muslim women in a nonviolent movementthat played a pivotal role in ending Liberia’s civil war in 2003 - is chronicled in her memoir, Mighty Be Our Powers, and in the documentary Pray the Devil Back to Hell.
