Bentonville Honors Outstanding Residents

BENTONVILLE — Pamela Hogate and Eagle Family Ministries have been given the mayor’s Outstanding Citizens Award for the first quarter of 2013.

Mayor Bob McCaslin presents the awards four times a year to residents and groups nominated for their volunteer contributions, according to a news release.

Hogate was nominated by Galen Havner, executive director of human resources for Bentonville Public Schools; and Gan Nunnally from Bentonville Youth Baseball. Hogate is an office assistant at Bright Field Middle School and serves on the executive board for Bentonville Youth Baseball.

Nunnally said Hogate is the “glue that holds everything together.”

“Her tireless energy and devotion to giving back makes her the perfect candidate for this honor,” Havner wrote.

Eagle Family Ministries was nominated by John Stiles. The nonprofit group was founded by Steve and Susan Tucker in 1996. The ministry partnered with Feed the Children and the Bentonville School District in March to give away boxes of nonperishable food and household items to 800 families in Bentonville.

The group also has an ongoing mission project in Southeast Arkansas to distribute food to 400 families each month. They offer seminars and counseling services to strengthen families, according to the release.

The Mayor’s Office is accepting applications for the second quarter awards through June 14. For a nomination form or more information, visit the city’s website at www.bentonvillear.com.
