Agriculture Secretary Vilsack to speak at UA

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will visit the University of Arkansas campus on April 23 and speak as part of the Dale and Betty Bumpers Distinguished Lecture Series.

Vilsack, the nation's 30th agriculture secretary, and previously served two terms as Iowa governor. He has been an advocate of first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative to fight childhood obesity and has assisted in the passing of several bills to fight nationwide hunger and improve food safety.

The lecture, hosted by the Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences and scheduled for next Tuesday, will be at 1 p.m. in the School of Law's E.J. Ball Courtroom.
