Gentry woman pleads not guilty to shooting husband

A Gentry woman pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in connection with her husband's death.

Susan Fleck entered the plea Monday morning during her arraignment before Circuit Judge Robin Green. Fleck is charged with capital murder, a Class Y felony.

She is accused of shooting her husband to death in their Gentry home.

Evan Fleck was found dead in his bedroom by Gentry police, according to court documents.

Fleck fled the scene after the shooting and was later arrested in Oklahoma and transported back to Benton County.

The judge appointed the Benton County Public Defenders Office to represent Susan Fleck.

Chief Public Defender Jay Saxton told the judge that Susan Fleck had been informed of her rights and the possible punishments that she faces.

"How do you plea?" the judge asked her.

"Not guilty," Susan Fleck quietly responded.

The judge reminded Fleck that a no contact order exists prohibiting Fleck from contacting her husband's family or the couple's children. "Do you understand?" the judge asked.

"Yes sir," Susan Fleck said.

An omnibus hearing in the case is set for 8 a.m. June 17.

Susan Fleck is being held without bond in the Benton County Jail.
