FAYETTEVILLE — A woman faces felony charges after police found her four children in a locked apartment with feces on the floor.

Police arrested Stacey May Graham, 26, of 1101 S. Curtis No. 167 in Fayetteville in connection with first-degree criminal mischief and four counts of felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Officers were called to Graham’s apartment Friday about 1:20 p.m. to check the welfare of the children.

According to an arrest report, police got a key from an apartment manager to get into the residence.

Inside, officers found four nude children, running around in “squalid conditions.” Police said they saw human feces “all over” the floor. Investigators also found remnants of trash, food and soiled clothing strewn about the room.

Police reportedly found a steak knives on the living room floor and in one of the children’s rooms.

In the bathroom, police found a trash can near the toilet, which was reportedly being used as a urinal.

Investigators said they found Graham later in the day walking east on Huntsville Road. Graham told police she left her apartment at 6 a.m. Friday. She reportedly told a neighbor to “listen in” on her children while she was gone.

Graham was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was being held Saturday on $5,000 bond.
