The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 11 a.m.

Monday. This month’s program will be presented by June Hansen about “Fun in My Sewing Room.”

The group usually meets the third Monday of every month except December.

Democrats

Columnist John Brummett will speak at the Benton County Democrats’ monthly meeting and luncheon, to be held at 11:30 a.m. April 22 at the Elks Lodge at 501 S. 40th St. in Rogers.

Brummett, a longtime journalist and observer of Arkansas politics, is the author of “High Wire,” an account of the first year of the Clinton administration. Currently he writes a column for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

He will speak on how actions of the current Arkansas Legislature may impact the 2014 election.

McKissick Chapter

Nebraska Club

The Nebraska Club will hold a post-income tax day party and potluck dinner Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Affairs Bella Vista Post. Social hour is from 4 to 5 p.m. with dinner served at 5 p.m.

Lions Club

The Bella Vista Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m.

Daylily Club

The Ozark Hills Daylily Club will hold spring plant sales from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and April 27 at the Bella Vista Wasterwater Co., U.S. 71 South, near the Missouri border, 380 Bella Vista Way. The club grows, divides and pots numerous named varieties of daylilies, which will be offered for sale to the public at reasonable prices.

This year, in addition to the already potted plants, daylilies will also be freshly dug from the garden by club members for those customers who request them. Pictures of all daylilies in bloom will be available at the sale.

Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

Proceeds go toward scholarships for University of Arkansas horticulture students.

Genealogists

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. April 22 at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St.

Bill Smith, blogger and writer, will present “13 Ways to Tell Your Ancestor’s Story.” He has been actively involved in family history research since 1995 and is retired from Emporia (Kan.) State University.

The Granny’s Quilts of Love will meet at 9:30 a.m.

They have made 15,000 quilts donated to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Quilt Guild

The recently formed Modern Quilt Guild of Northwest Arkansas will welcome quilter Jenifer Dick to their May 2 meeting. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. upstairs at The Rabbit’s Lair, 116 S. First St. in Rogers.

Dick will speak on her transition from traditional to modern quilter. She will also teach a workshop on invisible machine applique, details of which will be announced by The Rabbit’s Lair.
