Man, 20, arrested in April 1 knifing

Fort Smith police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree battery Monday after the victim of an April 1 stabbing identified him in a photo lineup.

Police arrested Eddie Luangoudom at his apartment, questioned him and booked him into the Sebastian County jail on the charge, according to a news release.

Officers were called to a street fight in the 3500 block of North 26th Street around 6:16 a.m. April 1, and witnesses told police one man drove off in a white SUV and the other fled. Police found a bloody knife and other evidence, the release said.

About a half-hour later, a local hospital contacted police to report doctors were treating a critically injured man, David Rosa, 27, who had a stab wound under his left arm.

Police investigators said that Rosa found a boy inside his vehicle when he went to start it April 1, and the boy fled. Rosa found there was property missing and began driving around the area looking for the boy. When he found the boy walking in the 3500 block of North 26th Street, he confronted him, the fight ensued and Rosa was stabbed, police said.

Rosa underwent surgery and is expected to recover, police said.
