Cizik to speak
at interfaith event
LITTLE ROCK - The Rev. Richard Cizik, former leader of the National Association of Evangelicals, will be the keynote speaker at the Ground for Hope-Arkansas event April 27. The program is an interfaith environmental training event for seminarians, clergy and laity.
The program, part of a national series of similar events sponsored by GreenFaith, is being presented by St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Arkansas Interfaith Power & Light and other religious and environmental partners. The program will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The day-long event is designed to equip people of faith to care for creation.The program will include multi-faith worship, as well as workshops on the Bible and the environment, food and faith, energy saving, environmental challenges facing Arkansas and environmental advocacy and the faith community.
Cost is $20 per person and includes lunch and refreshments. Registration is available at greenfaith.org.
Scholastica retreat
highlights psalms
FORT SMITH - Sister Hilary Decker will present a retreat on “Songs of the Lord” May 3-5 at St. Scholastica Monastery’s retreat center, 1205 S. Albert Pike Ave. Participants will discuss the various types of psalms, including hymns, lamentations, wisdom, thanksgiving androyal psalms. They will also explore the psalms through dramatization and art.
Cost is $175 and includes lodging for two nights and five meals. Commuter cost is $120, and includes meals. Registration is available at stscho.org or by calling (479) 783-1135.
