Helen Tyson Middle School Students of the Month for March are Joshua Brady, Jack Jasinski, Molly Kingston, Madison Holt, Samantha Quintero, Addison Littrell, Toby Yochum and Ashley McCash.

Morganne Garcia, an Oklahoma Baptist University junior from Rogers, was selected as one of eight student soloists to perform as part of the university’sGarcia39th annual Concerto-Aria Concert Feb. 17.

Garcia is a music education major and performed the third movement of the Hummel Concerto for Trumpet in E-flat Major.

On Bison Hill, she is the president of Kappa Kappa Psi; the lead trumpeter of the Bison Jazz Orchestra; a member of OBU’s Symphonic Winds and The Bisonettes,OBU’s Women’s Glee Club;

and the secretary for the National Association for Music Education. Garcia is from the studio of Dr. Kevin Pruiett, associate professor of music.

Fayetteville Christian Junior and Senior High School students competed in the 21st annual local Intel Science and Engineering Fair Feb. 14. The winners were Zina Hardin, who won first place overall; Kelley Zornes, who won second place overall; and Seungyong Ham, who won third place overall.

First place winner for the Senior Class division was Levi Turner.

Winners for the Junior Class division were Kelley Zornes, first place; Robert Stevenson, second place; and Trey Milsted, third place.

Winners for the Sophomore Class division were Zina Hardin, first place; Elizabet Campos, second place; and Nathan Sypult, third place.

Winners for the Freshmen Class division were Seungyong Ham, first place;

Elizabeth Resh, second place; and Sam Jensen, third place.

Seventh grade Class division winners were Tyler Bell, first place; Charlie Kilpatrick and Ethan Baker, second place; and Hunter Hatcher, third place.

The winning students competed at the NW Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair on March 15 at the University of Arkansas.

A Stamp Out Smoking essay contest was recently held for grades seven through nine at Woodland Junior High School in Fayetteville.

First place went to Ashley Wilson who won a 64GB retina display iPad. Second place was awarded to Betty Pendleton who won a 64 GB iPod Touch.

WJHS film teacher Julie Agler received a $300 Walmart card for classroom use.

Amanda Gayle Crump of Centerton graduated from Midwestern State University in December 2012 with a bachelor of science in Radiologic Sciences, magna cum laude.

Midwestern State University had 474 undergraduate and graduate students who were awarded degrees in December 2012.

Kimberly Joy L. Carney of Rogers graduated from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Dec. 16 during a commencement ceremony held at the University’s Athletic and Fitness Center.

Carney graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

This year’s Commencement Ceremony celebrated the graduation of Chatham’s 142nd class of undergraduate women and its 20th class of graduate women and men.

Samuel Harrison Murphy of Rogers graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology during commencement ceremonies held in the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building on campus.

Murphy earned a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering cum laude.

More than 400 candidates received degrees during ceremonies held Dec. 14 and 15.

Cum laude indicates a GPA of 3.2 to 3.49.

Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, graduated 415 students during fall commencement exercises Dec. 15.

Among the area students receiving degrees were Maurice Webster of Siloam Springs earning a bachelor of arts degree in Management of Criminal Justice.
