CNN analyst to lead Springdale forum

CNN senior political analyst Alex Castellanos will headline the 2012 Henkel Global Leadership Conference/Social Impact Forum presented by Champions For Kids on Oct. 11 at the Springdale Holiday Inn.

The conference draws corporate and community leaders together to develop skills that help in the business and social worlds.

Champions For Kids’ mission is to mobilize millions of people to work to ensure all children in America have the resources they need to thrive. The group partners with the private sector, schools and nonprofits to address child wellness needs.

The conference is in its third year and features more than 20 workshops and forums during the day.

Cost is $319 and the nonprofits rate is $149. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 5 p.m. For additional information go to championsforkids.org.

Aerus moves to new Rogers location

Aerus, formerly Electrolux USA, moved into the Kingston Plaza Shopping Center at 4404 W. Walnut St., No. 9, in Rogers.

Kevin Pittman owns the business.

The name Aerus was chosen based on its Greek meaning of air. The new technologies incorporated by Aerus include water filtration and air purification products.

2 ServiceMaster franchises merge

Two Northwest Arkansas ServiceMaster Clean Franchises recently merged after 10 years of direct competition.

ServiceMaster Restoration Northwest, owned by Marshall and Vicki Henson, sold its Disaster Restoration division to ServiceMaster by Quality Restoration, owned by Wayne and Judy Bryant. The transaction allowed the Bryants to add Benton and Carroll counties to their exclusive franchised service area of Washington County.

Service Master by Quality Restoration will now offer its fire, water and smoke damage restoration services to all of Northwest Arkansas. Quality Restoration owns additional offices in central Arkansas and in the River Valley. Service-Master Northwest will continue to operate the janitorial and commercial office cleaning division in Benton and Carroll counties.

Fire Island Grill opens in Tontitown

Bryon and Jennifer Mick opened a restaurant in Tontitown Sept. 12. Fire Island Grill is located at 1094 E. Henri De Tonti Blvd. Suite A.

The eatery features what Bryon Mick calls his favorite vacation foods ranging from coconut shrimp, clam chowder, quesadillas , fish and shrimp tacos, grilled meats and burgers. The menu also features six entree salads and 10 brick oven pizzas, including one featuring lobster.

Entrees average around $10 and include two side dishes.

Fire Island Grill has a full bar and has live music at least once a week. Mick said music is typically on Friday nights, but he is looking to expand to other nights.

The 4,000-square-foot restaurant seats approximately 100 people. The restaurant has 25 employees with 10 working full-time.

An area in the front of the restaurant is used for the Crazy Coconut. Yogurt, muffins, cookies and chocolate-covered strawberries are featured items.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

2 Fayetteville medical systems lauded

Two Fayetteville organizations were among the 17 winners of the Arkansas Governor’s Quality Awards handed out by Gov. Mike Beebe during the 18th annual awards celebration Monday in Little Rock. Approximately 300 business and civic leaders from throughout Arkansas attended the event. AEDC Executive Director Grant Tennille was the guest speaker.

Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks won an Achievement Level Award and North Hills Life Care and Rehab garnered a Commitment Level Award.

The top award, the Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence, went to White County Medical Center of Searcy.

The goal of the Governor’s Quality Award Program is to encourage Arkansas organizations to engage in continuous quality improvement, which leads to performance excellence, and to provide significant recognition to those organizations. The Governor’s Quality Award program partners with the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce.
