UAM earns road victory

Junior Victoria Bozzo had 17 kills and committed two errors to lead Arkansas-Monticello (5-10) to a 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-17) victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-8) on Thursday in Pine Bluff.

Bozzo also finished with eight digs and two blocks, while Amy Kleypas had 11 kills and 19 digs for the Cotton Blossoms.

John Brown loses road match

Oklahoma Baptist (19-3) had three players with 10 or more kills in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) victory over John Brown on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla.

Libby Blasingame led John Brown (16-7) with 10 kills. Becca Young had 14 digs and Aubrey Adams had 14 assists for John Brown.

ASU blanks Louisiana-Monroe

Arkansas State’s women extended its winning streak to five games by posting its fifth shut out of the season, 3-0 over Louisiana-Monroe Friday at the ASU Soccer Complex in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State (7-5-0, 1-2-0 Sun Belt Conference) received goals from Christian Fink in the 15th minute, Kristina Rivera at 34:26 and Alex Furr on a penalty kick at the 34:58 mark.

Aja Aguirre and Audrey Bladwin both stopped two shots in goal to share the shutout.

ASU out shot Louiaina-Monroe (3-8-0, 0-2-0) 13-4.

Arkansas shuts out Tennessee

Arkansas scored an early goal and its defense made it hold up as the Razorbacks defeated Tennessee 1-0 on Friday in Knoxville, Tenn.

Arkansas (5-5-1, 2-2-1 SEC) put pressure on the Lady Volunteers (7-3-2, 2-2-1) early. Evan Palmer passed from the right side to Allie Chandler in the middle of the field at the top of the 18 at 13:58, and Chandler made a move around the top defender and fired a 15-yarder into the top right corner of the goal.

Arkansas sophomore Sam Wolf started in goal and finished with five saves.
