The Friends of the Poor walk/run will begin at 8:30 a.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Rogers, 1416 W. Poplar St. Walkers can choose to walk threefourths mile or a mile and half.

Walkers can solicit pledges or sponsor themselves. Money raised will be used by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Mother Teresa Conference) for direct assistance to the poor in Rogers and to support the church food pantry.

The General Relief Society Meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be broadcast at the Rogers Stake Center, 1101 McCollum Road in Bentonville, at 7 p.m. today. A social will take place prior to the broadcast, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The broadcast will also be available for viewing at broadcasts.lds.org.

Thompson, St. a ministry of Cross Church, will celebrate its first anniversary today. A sidewalk sale will last all day, Papa Rap will perform from noon to 2 p.m., a live auction will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. and Cross Church Kidz Inc.

Team will perform at 4:30 p.m. Drawings will be held at 1 and 4:30 p.m. A bounce house will be open for the children. Free hot dogs will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A fashion show will take place at 7 p.m. with volunteers and ministers modeling the clothing from Compassion Center. The store will be open for a short time afterward for shopping.

The My Friends and Me Preschool and Parent’s Day Out of First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., is recognizing its 10th anniversary Sunday during the 10:15 a.m. worship service and at 11:15 a.m. at a reception in the welcome hall. The community is invited.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W.

Hudson Road, will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sunday with a special song service. The hymns for the service will befrom “The Lutheran Hymnal.”

Village Bible Evangelical Free Church in Bella Vista, 210 Town Center S.E., will have an outdoor evening prayer and praise service at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 under the big top at 1591 Forest Hills Blvd. This is open to the community.

A worship service will be held at the same site at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7. Following the service, the annual church picnic will be held on the grounds.

First United Methodist Church of Bentonville, 201 N.W. Second St., will hold its third annual Cool Jazz/Hot Chili event from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 7. The Fayetteville Jazz Collective will provide traditional big band tunes.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will host a blood drive from 3 to 6 p.m. in Hines Hall. Wee Friends Discovery Center will host a bake sale and United Methodist Women will sell sodas.

The Pumpkin Patch will be open for business and children’s pumpkin-related activities will be available.
