Posted: September 28, 2012 at 9:08 a.m.

Lane closures on Interstate 540 are planned for Monday through Thursday in the Fort Smith area, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Friday.

Either the right or left southbound lane of I-540 between the Kelly Highway interchange at Exit 5 and the bridge over the Arkansas River will shut, the department said.

The closures, which are planned while crews make repairs to the bridge over the river relief channel, will run between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, weather permitting, the department said.
