FAYETTEVILLE — After two quarters of a defensive struggle, the Woodland Cowboys exploded in the second half at Harmon Field.

Woodland also won the eighth-grade game, 14-8.

Third Quarter

Woodland gained only two yards on 13 plays in the first half, due to a tough Tigers defense.

The second half was different thanks to the swift running of Rashad Brown.

Brown got things going on the second play of the third quarter, taking a Fuller Chandler handoff 60 yards to the Tigers’ 1. Chandler punched it in to give the Cowboys a 6-0 lead.

On Brown’s next carry, he scampered 67 yards to stretch the Woodland lead further.

Brown added fourth quarter touchdown runs of 25 and 5 yards to put the game out of reach, finishing with seven carries for 174 and three touchdowns.

Mason Petrino and Colton Farley also provided strong play on both sides of the ball for Woodland.

David Nichols led Gold with 14 carries for 60 yards.
