Bulky Waste Cleanup Set For Saturday

— Residents can dispose of large items that don’t fit in residential trash carts for free Saturday during the first of four bulky waste cleanups this fall.

Solid Waste and Recycling workers will accept items including furniture, appliances, carpet, vinyl flooring, drywall, lawnmowers and water heaters from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Owl Creek School, 375 N. Rupple Road, and Holcomb Elementary School, 2900 N. Salem Road.

Participants are asked to bring a copy of their most recent water bill to prove residency.

Electronic waste, medical waste, tires and household hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, cleaning solutions, automotive fluids and pesticides and herbicides will not be accepted Saturday. Those materials can be taken to Washington County’s Household Hazardous Waste facility, 2615 Brink Drive, during normal operating hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Residents can always leave yard waste such as grass clippings, brush and leaves at the curb with other trash and recycling, or they can take the materials to the city’s composting facility at 1708 Armstrong Ave.
