Man loses appeal in '98 Dalton killings

— A man convicted of killing two children and their parents in northeast Arkansas has lost his appeal before the Arkansas Supreme Court.

The high court on Thursday upheld the conviction and sentence of Charles Wayne “Chad” Green, who was charged with killing Carl and Lisa Elliott and their children, Gregory and Felicia. Green’s father, Billy Dale Green, was convicted in a separate trial and his appeal is pending.

The slayings occurred in 1998 near Dalton in Randolph County over what prosecutors said was a falling out over a drug deal.

Chad Green argued on appeal that statements he made to police should have been kept out of his trial and prosecutors had inconsistent theories of what happened.

The high court found there was no error that warranted a reversal.
