A Har-Ber High School student is one of 13 semifinalists from Arkansas in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
Samuel Rainey is the only student from Northwest Arkansas named a semifinalist. The scholarship program is for black students and is affiliated with the National Merit Scholarship Corp.
Rainey continues in the competition in hopes of receiving one of 800 Achievement Scholarships offered in the spring, according to a news release.
He joins a group of 40 Northwest Arkansas students recognized two weeks ago as semifinalists for National Merit scholarships.
