•–––––DORIS McMILLAN BARBEE HALLUM joined our Lord in heaven on September 24, 2012. Hers was a life of giving and serving, especially through her church, Ironton Baptist. She was very addicted to her camera. Doris was born April 10, 1922 in Palestine to Cecil and Dollie McMillan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JW Hallum; her parents; her brother Conner McMillan; her sisters Mary Jane Spurgers and Mathalee Kirkland. She is survived by one sister, Shirley Gentery; two sons, Buck (Sue) Barbee and Allen (Donna) Barbee; and one daughter, Rovilla Barbee (C.E. Jr.) Bennett. She had seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren plus a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends, all whom will miss her dearly.

A service to celebrate her life and victory in Jesus will be held at Ironton Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, with Brother Sidney Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Ironton Cemetery.

•–––––OTEMA OKLA JENNINGS, 90, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was born on October 21, 1921 in Umpire, Arkansas to William and Emer (Thornton) Davis. She was a member of the Agape Church in Little Rock.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie (Carol Ann) Jennings of Little Rock; daughters, Diane (Dale) Kirtley of Conway and Patricia “Pat” (Jimmy) Walthall of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Ronnie (Laura) Jennings, Jr., Amy Walthall, Jason Walthall, Jeanette (Jonathan) Wilson, Michael Kirtley, and Robin Jackson; and five great-grandchildren. •–––––BRAD KENNEDY, 63 of North Little Rock passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012. He was born August 17, 1949 to John B. and Opal Dillon Kennedy in Little Rock. Brad loved his family, and was a loving father, son and grandfather. He loved computers and was the owner of Housecalls for PC’s.

•–––––MELBA JUNE MAY, 83, of Little Rock passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012. She was a member of Winfield UMC in Little Rock. As a young lady, she lived in California doing runway modeling. She also worked as a manager of the Ralph Lauren Clothing Department for Parks Belk in Bristol, Tennessee for 15 years and was the leading salesperson for many of those. She also appeared in commercials for Parks Belk. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. Her little dog Gizmo always held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamelea May, of Little Rock, Arkansas; son, David May and wife, Selina, of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Della May-Taglia, of Conroe, Texas; six grandchildren, Amber Paysinger, Whitney Paysinger, Joshua Taglia, Devon Westwood, Brittany May, and Savannah May-Taylor; four greatgrandchildren, Blake, Tommy, Katie, & McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold David May.

•–––––FREDA BROWNING NORTHERN, 94, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2012. She was born February 12, 1918 in Benton to Samuel E. and Pearl Lee Browning. She was a homemaker and lifetime member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 60 years, Addison Oliver Northern Jr. She is survived by son, Bud Northern and wife Sharon of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Blayne Northern of Cabot and Nikki Chumley and husband Brett of Bryant; and five great-grandchildren.

•–––––DWIGHT A. SNOW, 80, of Sherwood died Monday, September 24, 2012. Dwight was born January 19, 1932 in Trujillo, N.M. to Leonard and Bertha Green Snow. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as the laundry plant manager for the VA Hospital after 41 years of service.

•–––––ALEXANDER — Matt Carter, 29, of Alexander who was a loving father, son and brother went to be with our Lord and Savior September 22, 2012. He was born on July 19, 1983, to Edward Carter and Debra Duran in Benton, Ark. Matt loved living his life to the fullest; he loved hunting, fishing, going to the lake and 4-Wheeler riding. He was the owner and operator of County Line Pawn Shop. Matt spent his final days surrounded by his family and his beautiful daughter.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Ocie Duran and Lewis Merlin Carter. Matt is survived by his loving daughter, Kinley Nichole Carter; mom, Debra Duran; father, Edward (Andy) Carter (Janet Faulkner); brother, Mark Carter (Dr. Leah); grandparents, Conrad and Leona Carrigan and Dee Pagan; his beloved best friend and mother of his daughter, Kenzie Robinson, and a host of family and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.

•–––––BATESVILLE — Charles Kenneth Smith of Batesville passed away at his home on Monday, September 24th. Born in Sulphur Rock on December 8, 1930, he was the son of George and Bertha Smith of Sulphur Rock. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Charles was a graduate of Sulphur Rock High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War until 1955.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Smith of the home, one daughter, Vicky Crosby Crouch of Batesville, and two sons, Dr. Kenneth Smith of Russellville and Bob Smith of Longmont, Colo. He has three grandchildren, Mika Richardson of Southside, Craig Smith of Little Rock, Lauren Smith of Fort Smith, and two great-grandchildren, K’Leigh Richardson of Batesville and Laila Smith of Little Rock.

Charles was employed in the construction business for nearly 50 years and a member of the North Heights Church of Christ.

Pallbearers are Craig Smith, K’Leigh Richardson, Mika Richardson, Lauren Smith, Jared Richardson, Al Crouch, John David Morgan, and Ronnie Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Martin and Keith Davis.

•–––––BENTON — Floyd Dale Keisler, age 75, was born September 13, 1937, in Leola, Ark., to the late Martin Ongelo Keisler and Lena Williams Keisler. The Lord called him home to Heaven September 24, 2012 at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. Floyd loved the Lord and was a dedicated Christian and a member of Forest Hills Missionary Baptist Church.

Floyd attended Leola, White Hall, and Pine Bluff Schools. He served in the Arkansas National Guard from February 28, 1955, through February 26, 1957. Later he served in the Army National Guard in Waxahachie, Texas, from February 1957 through February 1960. He received honorable discharge from the United States Army Reserve April 30, 1963.

In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Keisler. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roberts Keisler; five children, Barbara Renee Lewis, Randy Keisler and wife, Sherry, Daleene Drennan, Jarrod Roberts and wife, Laura, and Joseph Roberts; nine grandchildren, Peter Welchman, Lindsay Welchman Rone, Jennifer Keisler Offutt, Stephanie Keisler Davidson, Chris Wooten, K.D. Wooten Ferguson, Jake Drennan, J.D. Roberts, and Jacy Roberts; seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon Welchman, Haley Davidson, Makenzy Davidson, Cade Offutt, Charis Offutt, Spencer Drazic, and Reagan Rone; and other relatives and friends.

Kingsley. William graduated from Alread High School in 1952, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War 1953-1956. He worked for Tyson Foods as a truck driver for 17 years, and was a member of the VFW Post 4764. He was preceded in death by parents, William Marshall and Hazel E. (Kingsley) Watson, Sr., and his first wife, Dorothy Combs Watson. •–––––DeWITT — Nona Condray, died September 24, 2012. She was born in DeWitt, the daughter of Willie Belle Martin and C.E. Condray. She graduated from DeWitt High School, received a B.A. from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) and MA from the University of Michigan. She worked for 35 years in Washington, D.C. as a Crypt Analyst and Information Analyst for the National Security Agency and its predessors. Upon her retirement she returned to DeWitt to live. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She always took a strong interest in the news and was interested in politics from the time she was a small child. She was a staunch conservative. She took her duties as head of the family very seriously and never hesitated to reprimand the younger members of the family if they got out of line. She was always interested in animal welfare, especially dogs.

She is survived by her nephew, Albert Martin (Pat) Condray, two grandnephews: John Charles Condray and Col. Mike Condray of Virginia; a grandniece, Katherine Condray Abbott of Cheverly, Maryland and her dear Cairn Terrier, Duncan. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Albert Martin Condray and Charles Edgar Condray Jr. and two sisters, Mary Ida Condray Clewis and Martha Jean Condray and a nephew Charles E. Condray, III.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stan Burleson, Dr. Brad Baltz and the wonderful nurses and technicians of Little Rock, Stuttgart and DeWitt. •–––––GLENWOOD — Arlos Oliver, age 77, of Glenwood, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2012. He was born August 19, 1935, at Parks, the son of Floyd and Ethel Cantrell Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Alice Marie Bardwell and Joyce Taylor.

Arlos was a retired veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, having served four years in the U.S. Navy. He is also a retiree of AP&L (Entergy), where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and for more than 12 years he taught a Bible study class at the Fish Nest in Glenwood. Arlos will be remembered for his serving spirit and willingness to help others in every way.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Oliver of Glenwood; his son, Jonathan (Hollie) Oliver of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Grace and Jonathan David Oliver; and one sister, June Taylor of Bryant.

LaVerne was a member of Methodist Church, Arkansas State Employee Assoc Dist 13 Director; Arkansas Public Health Rep from Arkansas; ARC State Service Council Member and Past Chairperson; she was Boone County’s first female Judge. After a life of service as a minister in churches of Christ and a professor of Bible and English at Harding University, Dr. Duane McCampbell departed to be with the Lord. Born May 31, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to William Ernest McCampbell and Cora Ella Sorrells McCampbell, Professor McCampbell died at White County Memorial Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas, on September 24, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Naomi Lee Barber McCampbell of Searcy, Ark.; a daughter, Betty McCampbell of Cabot, Ark.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Gail Ann and Ron Snyder of Georgetown, Ark. He is survived by four grandchildren: Jason Grimes, Stephanie Moya, Melissa Lyons and Chris Snyder; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Darlene Boyd of Altus, Oklahoma. Dr. McCampbell began preaching in 1950 and preached for churches of Christ in Lancaster, California; Torrence, California; Kensett, Arkansas; Mount Zion at Newark, Arkansas; and Friendship (Harmony), Arkansas.

He served as a professor of Bible and English at Harding University from 1969 until 2001. He also wrote as a columnist for several newspapers including The Daily Citizen in Searcy, Arkansas. Dr. Campbell was greatly loved and respected by his family, his friends, churches he served, and his students. Six of his former students and special friends will serve as pallbearers or give tribute to him: Luke Smith, Martin Doyle, Randy Smith, Jamie Rucker, William Ralston, Nolan Watson, Jacob Hatfield and Jacob Robertson. A colleague and friend, Dr. Bill Lambert, will coordinate his service, and several of his friends and colleagues will make brief remarks to show honor and respect.

She was born February 13, 1914, in Stuttgart to Sidney George Brain and Sarah Elizabeth Clark Brain. She graduated from Stuttgart High School, attended Arkansas Teachers College (UCA) and graduated from Hendrix College with a teaching degree. Flora Jean married Ralph Daniel Roth December 29, 1936. They were married 44 years until his death February 11, 1981.

She is survived by one son, Clark Roth and wife, Aldora, of Stuttgart; grandson, Brian Roth of Stuttgart; granddaughter, Jennifer Roth Reinhardtsen and husband, Steve, of Flower Mound, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Grace Anne and Lily Kate Reinhardtsen of Flower Mount, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Francis Brain and Sidney George Brain; and sisters: Mary Brain, Patty Brain, Sarah Crume, Lois Wheat and Jay Shirley Shupe.

Flora Jean taught at Pontiac, Shannon and Stuttgart schools. She was a very active member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. She served as president of the United Methodist Women and received a Lifetime Special Mission Recognition pin in 1957. She was a Sunday school teacher and held numerous offices in the church. She was a breast cancer survivor and member of Breast Friends. An amazing cook and avid gardener, she always had fresh flowers in her home and her flowers graced many homes and events.

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — Cynthia “Cindy” Meech, 68, West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Chicago, Ill., and North Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 22, 2012, after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Her loving husband of 40 years, Robert (Bob) Meech, preceded her in death in 2007 after also suffering from pancreatic cancer. She was born in Chicago, Ill., on September 30, 1943, to Lucille Schatz and the late Wilbur Schatz. Cindy was a retired 26-year employee of Sears Roebuck & Co., where she was a sales manager. Cindy enjoyed time with her Lunch Bunch, winning at bunko, fitness activities, and was an avid walker, even throughout her illness. She was a loyal friend to many, and known to all for her positive energy, willingness to help, quick laughter, and enjoyment of time spent with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Mike) Keene of Cumming, Ga., Sally Lutes of West Lafayette, Ind., Lisa (John) McAteer of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Brittany Rogers (Johnathon Paape), Kameron and Stefanie Lutes, Lillian and Harrison McAteer; siblings, William (Grace) Schatz, Barbara (Tony) Riscili, Kathleen (Richard) Awe, Susan (Ed) Zbikowski, and Daniel (Jennifer) Schatz; beloved mother-in-law, Florence (Lucky) Meech; brothers and sisters-inlaw, Bill (Kathy) Meech, Cathy (Jim) Vallarta, Ralph (Cathy) Meech, Karen (Pete) Janits and John (Cathy) Meech; lifelong friends, Susan Tritt, and Ron and Karen Kuzma, and a host of extended family and close friends.

•–––––WILMETTE, Ill. — Florence M. Glasson Haut, age 88, of Wilmette, Ill., formerly of Little Rock, Ark., died on September 19, 2012. Wife for 59 years of Arthur; mother of Allyson (Peter Office), Marc, Paul (Dawn) and Judith (Amit Sethi); grandmother of Emma and Charlotte Office, Ethan Haut and Nina Sethi; sister of Theodore “Ted” Glasson; aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Florence was an extraordinarily accomplished woman. She graduated from the Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing, Middletown, Conn. Florence was community minded; a leader of and active in many organizations working to better the lives of others including the League of Women Voters, Arkansas Interfaith Hunger Task Force, the Arkansas Art Center and public education. She was the co-founder of Potluck, Inc., Arkansas’ only food rescue organization. In addition, she was a talented artist, cook and gardener. •–––––CROWLEY, Texas — Voyd Floyd Teague, 75, of Crowley, Texas, born September 17, 1937, in Clinton, Arkansas, to father, Vernon Mitchell Teague, and mother, Detho Molly Cook, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012. He was Baptist. He was a Veteran of the Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Detho Teague; his brother, Terrell Teague; and his sister, Adola Webb. Voyd is survived by his wife, Joy Nell Teague; his children, Robert, Tommy, and Debra Teague; his grandchildren, Sara, Mitchell, Aaron, Shawn, Jordan Teague; and his great-grandchildren, Blaine Williams, Jaxson and Nathaniel Sebits; and Stetson Teague.

•–––––CUERO, Texas — Mary Ann Scroggins of Cuero passed away Sept. 20, 2012. She was born in Hebron, Nebraska, on Sept. 17, 1934, to the late Augustus and Gayle Warner Keller.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Marler (Fred) of Springfield, Ark., and a son, Wayne Scroggins (Sandie), of Goliad, Texas; one brother, Leon Keller, Grandchildren: Misty Villa, Becky Marler, Jessica McKee, Chris Marler, Daniel DeLeon, Robert Villarreal, great-grandchildren: Zayden Villa, Curtis Henderson and five additional great-grandchildren.

She was a Veteran having served in the USAF. Employed by IRS for over 29 years until her retirement. She was later employed by the Cuero Senior Citizens Center for over eight years.

Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Cuero at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, with Dr. Glen Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cuero Building Fund or Donors Choice.
