Boyfriend Accused Of Kidnapping

— A woman told Lowell police her former boyfriend kidnapped her, but she managed to escape with the help of a Good Samaritan.

Jeremy Steven Treat, 19, of Huntsville was arrested Friday in connection with residential burglary, a Class B felony; and kidnapping, a Class Y felony.

Julie Russell, Treat’s former girlfriend, told officers she went to a friend’s home in Lowell so Treat wouldn’t know her whereabouts. Russell said Treat abused her in the past and he manages to find her every time she flees, according to court documents.

Russell said she woke up at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Moments later, Treat barged through the front door and told her to come with him, according to the affidavit.

Russell said Treat grabbed her purse and a small bag of her clothes, then dragged her out of the house and forced her into his car. She said Treat began hitting her as he drove, according to the affidavit.

Russell was able to get into car’s back seat and tried to open the back hatch. Treat stopped the car, and Russell was able to jump through the hatch and started running, but Treat tackled her, according to court documents.

Russell said a man in another vehicle drove up and told Treat to let Russell go, but Treat ignored the man, according to court documents. The man returned with a stick and again told Treat to release Russell. Treat then fled the scene on foot, according to court documents.

Lowell officers noticed Russell had bruising and scratches on her face and a “road rash” near her right elbow, according to the affidavit.

Treat was being held in the Benton County Jail on $75,000 bond Monday.
