Verizon Arena settles ticket lawsuit

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed in August by the operators of Verizon Arena in North Little Rock against a Nevada company accused of marketing and reselling tickets to local events at illegally excessive prices.

U.S. District Judge James Moody’s dismissal order, signed Wednesday, followed a request for dismissal filed Tuesday by attorney Joseph Falasco of the Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow law firm, indicating that a settlement has been negotiated with the defendants.

Moody said he will retain jurisdiction over the case for 30 days for the purpose of ruling on any subsequent motions or to enforce the settlement agreement, if necessary.

In the lawsuit, the Multipurpose Civic Center Facility Board for Pulaski County, which operates the arena, accused Red Dog Media Inc. and its operators, Bryce Landier and Michael Landier of Henderson, Nev., of marketing and selling tickets for Verizon events without permission.

The lawsuit noted that the defendants also used their website to resell tickets to other venues in Little Rock such as War Memorial Stadium and Robinson Center Music Hall.

The lawsuit contended that the website was “confusingly similar” to that of Verizon Arena’s and was part of a bad-faith effort to deceive the public and profit from using the arena’s name.

Neither the motion to dismiss the case, nor the order granting the motion, included a copy of the settlement agreement.
