Southside jumps out fast, whips Parkview

— Fort Smith Southside didn’t miss a beat without its starting quarterback Friday.

David Price rushed 11 times for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns, and the Rebels scored on each of their first five possessions en route to a 45-6 victory over Little Rock Parkview in a 7A-6A Central game at Jim Rowland Stadium.

Garrett Wolfe passed for 75 yards and one touchdown in place of senior quarterback Isaac Jackson, who served a one-game team suspension for an incident after the Rebels’ 10-7 loss at Springdale Har-Ber last Friday.

“Isaac is a great player, and he’ll play next week,” Southside Coach Jeff Williams said.“He’ll be ready to go, but I though Garrett did a great job. We’ve got faith in him, and our team rallied around him.”

Southside (2-2) built a 21-0 lead before eight minutes had been played.

The Rebels limited Parkview (2-2) to 9 yards over the Patriots’ first two possessions, and capitalized with three touchdowns.

Quincey Whitfield broke through the line and veered left for a 58-yard touchdown run on the game’s third play from scrimmage.

Southside began its next two drives inside the Parkview 35, and Price capped both with touchdown runs of 10 and 17 yards.
