East Central (Okla.) is 1-2 but hasn’t lost at Norris Field since October 2010, a string of eight consecutive victories. East Central was picked in a tie for second in the Great American Conference but has lost twice, partly because of a sputtering offense that averages 223.3 yards per game.

Courtney Rockwell (strong safety) and Deandre’ Bonner (cornerback) are listed as starters, a week after Arkansas Tech gaveup 391 yards passing to Henderson State. Today they’ll see an offense that hasn’t let off much, even after losing its quarterback four plays into the season. The Tigers are averaging 44.0 points and 387.5 yards per game. The Wonder Boys’ offense had a season-best 525 yards last week, but will face a Tigers defense that leads NCAA Division II at 110.0 yards allowed per game.

HARDING AT SOUTHERN NAZARENE

RADIO KVHU-FM, 95.3, in Searcy INTERNET hardingsports.com RECORDS Harding: 2-0; Southern Nazarene: 0-3 SERIES First meeting COACHES Harding: Ronnie Huckeba (24-29 in fifth season); Southern Nazarene: Mike Cochran (38-30 in seventh season) WHAT TO LOOK FOR This one could get out of hand early. Harding, which is trying to become 3-0 for the first time since 2004, has outscored its opponents in the first quarter 35-3 this season. Southern Nazarene has been outscored in the first quarter 56-0. This is the Crimson Storm’s first home game, and one of just two all season, as it transitions from NAIA to NCAA Division II and the Great American Conference.

SE OKLAHOMA STATE AT HENDERSON STATE

WHEN 6 p.m. Central WHERE Carpenter-Haygood Stadium, Arkadelphia RADIO KDEL-FM, 100.9, in Arkadephia INTERNET hsusports.com RECORDS Henderson State 3-0, 1-0 Great American Conference; SE Oklahoma State: 1-1, 0-1 SERIES Henderson State leads 16-6 COACHES Henderson State: Scott Maxfield (42-34 in eighth season); SE Oklahoma State: Ray Richards (37-38 in eighth season) WHAT TO LOOK FOR Henderson State’s offense has been humming since the start of the season - averaging 555 yards a game and an NCAA Division IIbest 61 points per game - but it’ll be facing a better defense today than any of its first three opponents. Southeastern Oklahoma State opened with a 31-6 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce and held Southern Arkansas to 299 total yards in last week’s 31-24 loss.The Savage Storm also are averaging 242 yards allowed per game, and they haven’t allowed more than 138 yards passing in either game. The Reddies have passed for 384, 475 and 391 yards in their three victories.

A victory would make the Muleriders 3-0 for the first time since 2003, the last time they advanced to NCAA Division II playoffs. A good day by quarterback Tyler Sykora could see the junior break a couple of career records. His 263 career completions are 19 behind John Launis, who completed 282 passes in 1988-1991, and Sykora’s 30 touchdown passes are five behind the 35 Ted Williams threw in 2000-2003.
