Springdale Central 35, Rogers Heritage 0

— Terek Dewey may not be the most imposing figure on the Springdale Central defense, but the 5-foot-6 cornerback made his presence felt on Thursday night.

Dewey pulled down a pair of key interceptions and forced a fumble for the Warriors (3-1) in a shutout win over Rogers Heritage.

“I think most teams see Dewey out on the island at corner and they under estimate him,” Central coach Fred Hartsfield said. “A lot of times the little guy on the field gets picked on. He isn't the biggest guy out there, but he has great instincts and a very high football I.Q. He plays his tail off and he had some big plays for us tonight.”

Dewey returned the first pick 21-yards for a touchdown and grabbed the second in the end zone as time expired in the first half to stop the War Eagles’ only drive in the red-zone.

Central (3-1) forced seven turnovers en-route to the shutout. Dewy and Alan Buttram each had a forced-fumble, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown.

In the eighth-grade game Central defeated Lingle 35-6.

Central will play Siloam Springs at Springdale Southwest next Thursday, and Heritage (0-4) will look to rebound against Bentonville Gold.
