Oklahoma Man Accused Of Raping Girl

A Chickasha, Okla., man is being held in the Benton County Jail on $75,000 bond after his arrest in connection with the rape of a 9-year-old girl.

Ray Aaron Romo, 63, was arrested Monday on a charge of rape, a Class Y felony.

His arrest was the result of an investigation by Gravette police after the girl’s mother reported the sexual abuse of her daughter last week.

The girl first disclosed details of the incident to her mother. Romo had been watching the girl and her sister for the past six weeks while their mother worked, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The girl was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County where she described details of the abuse. She reported Romo and her would play a dice game together. The person who rolled the highest number would win and get to tell the other person what to do, according to court documents.

The girl’s 8-year-old sister also was interviewed, but reported she hadn’t been inappropriately touched by Romo, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Romo was interviewed by police and denied sexually abusing the girl, according to court documents.

Prosecutors haven’t filed formal charges in the case. Romo was being held in the county jail as of Thursday afternoon.
