The Arkansas Educational Television Network, Fayetteville Public Library and KUAF 91.3 FM have partnered for Community Cinema, a free monthly film screening and discussion series. The series begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the library.
The first film in the series, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, follows celebrity activists America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union and Olivia Wilde as they travel to six countries to help women and girls.
As Goes Janesville, a film about the dwindling middle class in a Wisconsin town, will be shown on Oct. 14, while Solar Mamas, a story about a Jordanian mother of four attending a solar engineering program at India’s Barefoot College, is slated for Nov. 11.
