Bentonville Gold 21, Siloam Springs 0

— Bentonville Gold couldn’t have asked for a more efficient first half Thursday against Siloam Springs.

The Tigers (4-0) scored on all three of their offensive possessions in the first half, while the defense held the Panthers to just 16 total yards of offense.

Siloam Springs beat Washington Junior High 36-28 in the eighth-grade game.

Gold (4-0) took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter when receiver Ben Barron scored on a 14-yard jet sweep. David Nichols added a short touchdown run and later added a 31-yard scoring run just before the half.

“Our offense came out and did a great job,” Gold coach Toma Whorton said. “Our line was blocking. We were able to mix it up a little bit. We hope we can continue to do that next week.”

The loss snapped a two-game winnning streak for the Panthers.

“Just like with any team, at some point you’re going to get that first bit of adversity,” said Siloam Springs coach Jonathan Johnson. “These kids have really been riding high the last two weeks. Now we’re going to find out how they’ll respond. I think this group will respond positively. I think that’s the type of team they are. I think that’s the type of kids they are.”

Gold plays at Fayetteville Woodland next Thursday, and Siloam Springs plays at Springdale Central.
