How about they just build a Chick-fil-a in the middle of downtown. That ought to bring the people.

Cookie has it! However, Chick-feel'er is likely looking for more traffic.

Foresight 25-30 yrs ago to provide a RR underpass or overpass could have really helped. But, with a major chicken feed operation just blocks from "downtown" there's no need in discussing it.

Maybe a Confederate Soldier statue at the entrance to Emma would help.

I wished this paper had a reporter who would look into this kind of waste. Why did the city hire a consulting company from out of state, don't tell me there isn't a company in Arkansas or Springdale for that matter who couldn't do the job. It seems like every 3 or 4 years there is a study done on downtown Springdale, none have been implemented. Why does the city continue to throw money at this problem without seeing the obvious. Downtown can be energized and revitalized but the city will not commit to what is needed because they are afraid of voter backlash. To many do gooders and bible thumpers, yes bible thumpers like this mayor, who votes his " Morals " and not what is best for the city. $100,000.00 for a downtown study, $57,000.00 for a study of the Fire and Police Departments, $260,000.00 bathrooms, and on and on. Do the math for yourself and see the amount of money being spent. 200 million in bond debt, a ball park completed in 2008 and not one business anywhere near it, which was the drumbeat to get the voters to approve it's construction. Now a business wants to build at the location and the city is giving them the run around. The mayor said what ever is done may have an effect on the future, I agree 200 million in debt sure has a impact on the future.

I can't wait to see what is posted about this comment !

I wish the reporter would do real investigative reporting...like ... look at how the Chamber and City are promoting downtown, (ha)....where They Office! The City is now spending the money, unlike the last 20 years, thank you, another year, may just be too late. All the chamber can think about is the West Side -- the Ball park.
