JOYCE ASHLEY, 88, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012. She was born to the late Conley and Berta Adams. Joyce and her husband previously owned Huggins Drug Store, where she worked for many years. Being a mother was the most important thing in her life and nothing meant more to her than her family and home. Joyce was a selfless lady who always put her family and others first.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Bryant Ashley, Jr. and wife, Karen and Randy Ashley and wife, Sharon, all of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Lauren Montgomery and husband Blake, Daniel Ashley and fiancée Andrea, Nathan Ashley and wife, Samantha and Mary Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Laney Montgomery; brother, Jim Adams and wife Jackye, of Leslie, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Phoebe Adams, of Fayetteville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Ashley, Sr.; brother, Lawrence Adams and her sister, Helen Adams.

DWIGHT “POPPY” DAVIS, 72, of Little Rock, passed away September 18, 2012. Dwight was a Field Service Representative for Arkansas Farm Bureau until he retired in 1999. He was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved working around the church and his church family.

Dwight was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Ann Davis. He is survived by two daughters, Martha Kornas (Matt) and Mary Prince (Kenny); one son, Chris Davis (Sarah); and seven grandchildren, Tara Prince, Allison Prince, Holly Kornas, Tyler Kornas, Abraham Davis, Lydia Davis and Rebekah Davis, all of Little Rock.

DOROTHY PYLE, a very dear and gracious lady, has now received peace. She passed away on September 18, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Floyd and Ollie Gray on November 16, 1925 in North Little Rock, one of seven brothers and sisters.

She was predeceased by husband, Monty Pyle. Leaving to cherish her memory: sons, Alan Pierce (Verna), Ron Pyle (Patty) of Little Rock, and daughter Kim Pyle of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Mary Ellen Pyle, Susan Williams, both of Little Rock and Theresa Joiner, of Charlotte, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren; brother, Truman Gray, of Little Rock; sister, best buddy Pat Eller, of North Little Rock; and dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy and Mont shared adventurous spirits, enjoying traveling the back roads in Arkansas’ hills, and house boating on the Arkansas River, where she loved spending quiet times on the houseboat as Mont “railroaded,” or at home playing the piano and organ or reading.

She was a loyal member of Levy Baptist Church Choir and Arkansas Revival Center Choir. She was a member of Sherwood First Baptist Church, and a dedicated auxiliary volunteer for St. Vincent Hospital, having served 10,838 hours. She termed that “going to work,” and served in many capacities.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170, with Pastor Ricky Lee officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Cemetery.

RAYMOND L. RODGERS, age 80, died at his home in Little Rock Sept. 18, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 7, 1932, at home on the family farm in Tarry, Ark. He was the 12th child of the late William A. and Roberta Bertrand Rodgers.

He attended Star City, Ark., Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1951. He joined the Navy in Pine Bluff and was sent to California for training and upon a physical was immediately given a medical discharge. He returned to Arkansas and was employed for a short time in Little Rock with a furniture business. He returned to Pine Bluff and was employed with Arkansas Power and Light Co. (Now Entergy Arkansas) retiring in 1986.

Raymond began purchasing older homes in the Quapaw Area of Little Rock and built a very profitable business. His mother’s family were early settlers and prominent residents of Little Rock where his greatgreat-grandfather was the first mayor. Raymond married Joyce Tarleton March 3, 1954, and to this union was born one child, Raymond Tarleton (Butch) Rodgers. He was a member of Shell Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Raymond loved to dance and be with his friends.

He was preceded in death by five brothers; James, Ralph, W.A., Morris and Ray Allison; five sisters, Cora Linneman, Lucille Norton, Lillian Glover, Jennie B. May and Dorothy Jean Rodgers. He is survived by his son, Raymond (Butch) Rodgers and wife Mary of Little Rock; one grandson, Christopher Jackson; one brother, Robert Rodgers of Newkirk, Okla.; several nieces, nephews, cousins; a host of friends.

CHARLES “CHARLIE” HUSTON ROWLAND, 47, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 due to complications from ALS. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and worked at Mainstream Technologies in Little Rock. He enjoyed his work, golf, mountain biking, hacky-sack, playing piano, writing poetry and was a talented artist.

He is survived by his mother, Henrietta Paladino Rowland; daughter, Brittany Rowland, both of North Little Rock; grandson, Kaeden Fulton; sister, Patty Echols and husband Ed, of Dallas, Texas; best friend, Robert Dunaway, of Cabot; caregiver, Candace Cole, of North Little Rock and a host of family and friends. BALD KNOB — Dan Patton Ozment of Bald Knob, Ark., was born January 24, 1948, in Little Rock, the son of the late Marvin L. Ozment and Willie Bea Green Ozment Jensen. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and a Mason and belonged to Iron Springs Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed building hot rods, visiting and socializing with his friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. CONWAY — Wayne Edward Dillion, 82, of Conway and formerly of DeWitt passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born October 10, 1929, to L.E. Dillion and Emily Ferguson Dillion. He was a retired meat market manager for Kroger and a member of Second Baptist Church in Conway.

He is survived by two daughters: Carol Stout and husband Mike, Ann West and husband Mike, all of Conway; one son, Ross Dillion and wife Cyndi of Conway; four grandchildren: Michelle Stout Odom and husband Brian, Stacy Stout Hammons and husband Rob, Emily West Ferris and husband Cody, Drew Dillion: five great-grandchildren: Quinn and Cullen Odom, Zac, Tyler and Lexi Hammons; and a brother, David L. CONWAY — Josie Dee Reynolds McClain. Whenever a member of the family of Josie Dee Reynolds Mc-Clain hears the song “You Are My Sunshine,” they automatically think of her. Not only was it one of her favorite songs, but it was the song she sang when she nurtured and comforted her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The classic song is also a perfect reflection of the light and love she brought to those around her.

Sadly that light was dimmed Tuesday, September 18, 2012, with the passing of this beloved woman. Josie was born April 14, 1918, in Enola, Ark., the middle child of Ollie Mae Brown and George Marvin Reynolds. One of seven siblings, she was an accomplished student, graduating from Conway Public High School and then attending the State Teachers College, now known as University of Central Arkansas.

In 1947, McClain went on a blind date that changed her life. She and Kenneth Radford Mc-Clain were married on August 31, 1949. The following year they began a family, and were blessed with three daughters. When her husband was serving in the U.S. Army and received an assignment in Tripoli, Libya, Josie summoned all of her faith to join him. That faith was a huge influence on her husband, and while stationed in North Africa Kenneth was baptized in the Mediterranean Sea. The family returned to the states and eventually made their home in Little Rock. Josie was a charter member of the Robinson & Center Church of Christ in Conway and was a former member of the Sixth & Izard Church of Christ and Mabelvale Church of Christ.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, who passed in 1994; her brothers George Reynolds and Robert Reynolds; and sisters Joy Hooper, Faber Woodruff and Betty Acruman. She is survived by daughters Brenda McClain and Dee Ann Howell and her husband, Bill of Conway; Marion Greene and her husband Jim of Marion, Ark.; three grandchildren, Ron Greene, Elizabeth Greene, Amber Bailey and her husband, Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Addileigh. Other surviving relatives include Sister Marvine Ely and her husband Van of Fort Worth, along with many dearly loved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Roller-McNutt in Conway, Ark., with burial at the National Cemetery at 12 noon. FAYETTEVILLE — Thelma B. Graddy, 100, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Fayetteville. She was born March 30, 1912, in Corinth, Arkansas. The daughter of Thomas B. and Edna (Hunt) Graddy. She was an elementary school teacher, a business owner of a five and dime and a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Fayetteville.

She is survived by two children, Brenda (Graddy) Bailey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, John B. Graddy of Amelia Island, Florida, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HOT SPRINGS — Tommy Stephenson, 65, of Hot Springs, died Monday, September 17. He was born October 17, 1946, in Lake Village, Arkansas, to Eleanor and the late Calvin Stephenson. Tommy was a great family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; they were the joy of his life. He enjoyed watching football and played blackjack regularly at Oaklawn Jockey Club.

Tommy is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Stephenson, wife, Brenda Stephenson, and brother, James Bryant Stephenson. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Stephenson; son, Len Stephenson of Monticello; son-inlaw, A.J. MARION — Julian B. Fogleman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, April 17, 1920, to J.F. “Frank” Fogleman and Julia McAdams Fogleman and was a life-long resident of Marion, Arkansas. He died peacefully surrounded by his family at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis on September 17, 2012. He was proud to be one of thirteen (13) to graduate from Marion High School in 1937. After graduation, Julian attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. In 1941 he graduated with a B.S.B.A. He then attended the University of Arkansas School of Law graduating in 1943 with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Following graduation from law school, he volunteered for service to his country in the United States Army. Despite being rejected for being blind in one eye and missing his right thumb, he persisted and was ultimately admitted to service in the United States Army Infantry, where he served in Europe attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After WWII, he returned to Marion where he began the practice of law, later joining his brother, John, in the Hale and Fogleman Law Firm. The firm later became Hale, Fogleman and Rogers. He was licensed to practice law in a long and distinguished legal career spanning over 60 years. He was very active in the Arkansas Bar Association, serving on its House of Delegates for over 40 years and the Executive Counsel for 6 years. Over the years he was a member of 17 different committees, serving as chair or vice chair on many of them. He was a past president of the Northeast Arkansas and Crittenden County Bar Associations. He was a Fellow of the Arkansas Bar Foundation for over 40 years and served on its Board of Directors. In 1996 Julian was honored by the Arkansas Bar Foundation by bestowing upon him its “Outstanding Lawyer Citizen Award.” He was appointed by the Governor to the Good Roads Counsel, The Commission on Community Based Rehabilitation and twice as a Special Associate Justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court. Julian Fogleman was also committed to public service serving as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Crittenden County for 7 years, the City Recorder for the City of Marion, and the elected City Attorney for Marion for 31 years. He also served on the Crittenden County Board of Education and the board of Crittenden County Charities, Inc. In 2008, the Marion Chamber of Commerce named him its “Citizen of the Year.” He was an active member in the Marion Rotary Club with over 40 years of perfect attendance and was named by Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow. Julian was an active member of the Marion United Methodist Church for his entire life serving in too many capacities to name but was especially proud of his role as chairman of the building committee and his love of singing in the choir. On August 11, 1950, Julian married Melba Margaret Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Justice John A. Fogleman of Little Rock and Frank G. Fogleman of Marion, and his sister, Mamie Fogleman Stokes of Marion, Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Henderson Fogleman; their five children, Lisa Fogleman Heath and her husband John of Marion, Arkansas; J. Barton Fogleman Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Judge John N. Fogleman and his wife, Nancy of Marion, Arkansas; Jennifer Fogleman Brown and her husband, Paul of Atlanta, Georgia; and Frances Fogleman Irwin of Escalon, California; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Julian loved his church, his family and his Razorbacks.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Marion United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. WARREN — Louise Galloway May, age 97, of Warren, Ark., died Tuesday, September 18, at Wagnon Place Nursing Home. Born on May 2, 1915, in Rison, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Galloway and Samantha Nichols Galloway. She was the youngest of their seven children.

Mrs. May was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Doyle May, who died September 26, 1995. She was married November 13, 1937. Also, preceding her in death were her sisters Onie Galloway Edmiston, Ollie Galloway Kendall, and one infant sister. Her brothers were William Roy Galloway, Joe Mack Galloway, and Hugh Edward Galloway, and two sons-in-law, William Charles Jolley and Johnny Ralph Barnes. Louise is survived by two daughters, Phyllis May Barnes, of Warren, Ark., and Lynn May (Bill) Landers, of El Dorado, Ark. She had five grandchildren, William Michael (Tamara) Jolley, Kimberly Jolley (Tony) Cathey, Allison Landers (Dennington) Moss, Andrea Landers (Justin) Huntley and William Jeffrey Landers. She had 10 great-grandchildren, Justin Dale (Sarah) Smith, Megan Jones (Nick) Holloway, Seth Michael Jolley, William Landon Jolley, Gardner Landers Moss, Ella Clayton Moss, Hadley Dennington Moss, Mary Hayden Huntley, Georgia Scott Huntley, and Champlin Clark Huntley. There are also two great-greatgrandchildren, Josie Elise Smith and Justin Cole Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. May lived in Warren until 1965 when Mr. May became manager of Calion Lumber Company. They moved to El Dorado during this time and back to Warren in 1993. During their years in El Dorado they were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Louise enjoyed playing bridge in two different clubs. She was a long time member of the Warren Garden Club, the United Methodist Women, and the Bradley County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She and her husband were members of the First United Methodist Church in Warren. She enjoyed being called “Grandmommy May” by all her grands, great’s, and great-great’s.

WARREN — Sandra Jean Patterson died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 11 at her home in Warren, Ark., at age 52. She is survived by her children, Christina Nelson and Stephen Nelson, along with their father, Michael Nelson, and Stephen’s wife, Erin and daughter, Alexa, as well as family in Illinois. She was preceded in death by her first son, Timothy Michael Nelson, and her parents, Richard and Joanne Looper. RICHMOND, Va. — Glen Dean (Glenna) Bostian, age 91, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was born December 18, 1920, in Jerusalem, Arkansas, a daughter of Byron and Iva Lee Scoggins Shewmake. She moved to Morrilton in 1944, and for the last 8 years lived in Richmond, Virginia, to be near her son and family. She was a member of the Christadelphian Ecclesia and Baptized in August 1952.

Survivors include her son, David Bostian and his wife Nancy of Richmond, Virginia; granddaughter, Tami Russell and husband Richard; grandson, Greg Bostian and wife Lorie; nine great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and many friends, brothers, and sisters in the truth.
