Why can't they just use the tax money and PURCHASE a building for the same cost as RENTING? Makes not one ounce of sense. There are so many empty buildings around town that the city could easily pick up for almost half of what it would cost over the 6 year lease.
Depressing that that's how they spend (blow) tax payers money these days.

I agree. The $20 rate is way above market. I use the current office a lot & don't find anything wrong with it. Wonder who got a "commission" for the deal?

The combined Collector/Assessor satellite office near the current Revenue Office should be closed or moved near the new Revenue Office. It is just as inconvenient to go to the main courthouse office and then to the new Revenue Office, rather than using the current satellite office which is now no longer in a convenient location. Perhaps the county can sub-lease an area in the new Revenue office for Benton County assessments and collections and save some money in the deal.

I was approached about 6 weeks ago, by the owner of the new facility. He has a suite for lease over there. If my memory serves me, it was about 900 sq feet at about $20 a sq ft. also.

The lease started Aug. 1 and extends through July 31, 2018?!?
Why did they start paying $11,770 a month on August 1 for a building they have not moved into?

Is the county paying for the renovations? At that rate they should NOT be!
$20 is still TOO high. Poor negotiators?

I was told, by the owner of the new location, that he leases several locations around the state to the Department of Revenue.
Commercial rent is high here in Bentonville, but for such an out of the way location, well, it seems the price would be less. But I'm not a realestate agent. Just my opinion.

I can tell you from renting in an office complex (Raintree in Bentonville) and pricing for the past 2 years other commerical properties, that $20 is insane! You can rent in Rain Tree for $ 9 - $11 and with that long of a term lease even less.
I have also price property near the post office and off 28th street, as well as Village on the creeks and no one ever asked more than $13 and that was to finish it out.
City governments aren't about saving money it seems.
