— A judge has granted a jury trial in a legal battle over a $1 million lottery ticket, of which two Arkansas women have claimed ownership.

Judge Craig Hannah on Monday granted Sharon Jones’ request for a jury trial and scheduled it for the end of the year.

Jones claimed the jackpot after she retrieved the ticket from a trash can last year. A different judge ruled earlier this year that the money should belong to another woman who claimed a ticket reader said the ticket wasn’t a winner and threw it away.

That judge later ordered a new trial but said he wouldn’t preside over it. Hannah also denied Jones’ request to dismiss the case.

50/50 split and tell them both to shut up about it and go on. one person bought it and threw it in the trash and the other one person pulled it out and cashed it in. How else can you fix it??

I was just reading the page on the arkansas lottery website about claiming winnings. this is a copy and paste and I wish the judge would read this before making a decision at the next trial over this ticket so everyone involved can move on. here it is.
1. Sign your ticket (there's a space to sign on the back). Tickets are bearer instruments — if you lose a ticket before you sign it, you no longer have valid ownership of the ticket.
That is from the lottery webpage. How can the woman that is in this suit even prove she purchased the ticket if she never signed the back??The ticket was signed by Jones and turned in so according to what the lottery said she is the rightful owner.
