The University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home have been named Military Friendly Schools by Victory Media, according to releases from the schools.
Victory Media, an entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses.
The ASUMH release states that the university provides military scholarships and discounts, credits for military service and training, College Level Examination Program, online and distance learning, evening classes, activation penalty and a full-time VA counselor on staff to students that attend the university.
The University of Arkansas was awarded the title for several of its programs and services available to veterans, including the Veterans Resource and Information Center, Veterans Upward Bound, and office liaisons who assist with enrollment and housing.
According to the ASUMH news release, 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools are on this year's list.
