Nate Gneiting, right, a Bentonville safety, is chased down by South Panola (Miss.) tight end Jaylen Lee on a 57-yard interception return during the second quarter of the Tigers’ game Friday at Tiger Stadium in Bentonville.

Gavin Shadrick had high hopes of eluding the South Panola blocker in front of him and getting an opportunity to block a punt.

Why Bentonville won

The Tigers’ defense forced five turnovers — three interceptions and two fumbles — which accounted for 20 points. Senior tailback Tearris Wallace also ran for four touchdowns and finished with 119 yards on 30 carries.

Why South Panola lost

The Mississippi team’s offense was almost non-existent, being held to 28 total yards in the first half and never made it inside the Bentonville 25 the entire game.
