Drought eases, though 99.8% of state retains label

Northeast Arkansas has seen the most improvement in drought conditions across the state after last weekend’s storms dropped up to 3 inches of rain. The area from West Memphis west to Searcy and north to Melbourne moved from a classification of extreme drought to severe drought, the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln said Thursday.
